FLATBED TRUCK CAMPERS
SherpTek’s flatbed-camper-specific accessories eliminate many of the headaches associated with flatbed camper integration.
Every SherpTek system starts as a flatbed, and a system designed specifically for flatbed campers has some additional requirements that differ from a slide-in camper. Among them is a higher deck height so the cab-over portion of the camper clears the cab, thus this system is referred to as the “hi-rise” bed. The raised deck on the hi-rise opens additional underbed storage space, which SherpTek optimizes with the choice of taller underbed boxes and a slide-out rear tray (still in development) that requires the SherpTek “hi-rise” bumper.
Typically, loading and securing a flatbed camper is a tedious task, which means many flatbed campers rarely come off the truck. But SherpTek’s low-profile alignment brackets and a mounting system exterior to the camper ease the loading and unloading process. The proprietary tie-down system mounts directly into a SherpTek bed’s structural mounting points and makes loading/unloading a 5- to 10-minute task, and gives owners their trucks back to use as a truck was meant to be used – although with the SherpTek system the functionality goes way beyond a normal truck bed.
“We carefully look at how the truck, camper and aftermarket suspension, tires and other accessories play together when designing our flatbed system,” said SherpTek Founder and CEO Ryan Goodwin. “Our goal is to optimize space and functionality with longevity of the system and ease-of-use in mind.”
