SherpTek was on the move at the end of 2021 and start of 2022! You can now find us at the Old Woodgrain Mill site — now the Prineville Campus — at 1948 N. Main Street, BLDG 9, Prineville, OR.

Following is a peek at what it takes for a small team to move a manufacturing business 150 miles over a mountain pass in the dead of winter and a few pictures and links to show you “why Prineville.” (Not pictured: countless phone calls to manage logistics and the mental and physical strength gains from taking on the feat.)

The Moving Process

  • 6 loads over the Cascades in a 26-foot Penske box truck (and we got the added bonus of learning to “throw chains” to get over the snowy pass)

  • 3 vehicle haulers

  • 2 covered 18-wheeler truck loads

  • 2 full 40-foot high-cube containers, which required step-deck trailers for hauling and crane rigging on both ends for loading and unloading.

  • numerous additional trips in our shop truck and personal vehicles

  • countless hours of cleaning decades of dust and dirt from behind shelves and from within storage closets

  • a New Year’s Eve celebration, during which Ryan and I (and Mac and Moxi) cleaned the break room and “camped” on the office floor so we could wake up in our new community on day 1 of 2022

Our big backyard

When we were searching for a new SherpTek HQ, easy access to outdoor adventures was key for us personally and something we wanted for our customers as well. Prineville more than delivers! Not only is the Barnes Butte trail system accessible within minutes from the shop door, there’s a string of campgrounds along the Crooked River is a 20-minute drive straight south on Main Street, Smith Rock State Park is north about half an hour, and the Ochoco National Forest offers endless adventures. We don’t have time for all of that right now, but we enjoy what we can and encourage our customers to report back with their favorites!
